Santa Barbara, also known as the “American Riviera”, is a world-class resort destination on the central coast of California. Nestled between the ocean and the mountains, the town boasts a year-round Mediterranean climate and 25 miles of coastline. This arts-rich, cultural community offers some of the world’s best shops, restaurants, resorts, hotels and spas. Scenic Santa Barbara wine country is just minutes away in the breathtaking Santa Ynez Valley. Families will enjoy Stearn’s Wharf in Santa Barbara’s harbor, or the zoological gardens overlooking East Beach. Neighboring attractions include Solvang “The Danish Capital of America” and Chumash Reservation.

Santa Barbara’s diversity is also reflected in the unique and varied choice of beaches. Most of Santa Barbara’s beaches actually face south rather than west. Arroyo Burro Beach or Hendry’s Beach is secluded by cliffs and thus feels more private than other beaches. It is a still a popular beach and offers many amenities such as a restaurant, showers and picnic area. Butterfly Beach is across from the Four Seasons Biltmore. This west facing beach is private and exclusive. The Carpinteria Beaches are popular long stretches of beach packed full of amenities and activities. East Beach is centrally located near major hotels, and offers volleyball courts, children’s playground, and bike path. It’s also a great place to people watch as there are special activities and festivals often. El Capitan is part of a California State Park and there are plenty of facilities. Perfect for nature lovers and those seeking privacy. Goleta Beach offers something for everyone. Picnic areas with grills, fishing pier, restaurant, volleyball make it a local favorite. Leadbetter Beach is busy, youthful spot popular with windsurfers, beginning surfers and sailboats. Refugio Beach and State Park is quite a bit north of the city but is a unique beach that is great for hiking, biking and even snorkeling or diving. West Beach doesn’t offer many amenities, but it’s a great spot to watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. Whatever you enjoy, you will surely find your spot on Santa Barbara’s beaches.
